What are the odds? I photographed these two 2CVs on the same street an hour ago, but they clearly don’t belong to the same owner. The ‘79 blueish beater has a Bob Marley and some kind of raptor decal, the nice ‘87 (!) red one is for sale.
Had I not owned 6 cars already I’d be tempted to call the owner of the red 2CV. No price listed, sadly.

Nice! I’m surprised the Bob Marley 2cv’s windows are not completely obscured by smoke ;)

Well it’s parked there. A 2CV, especially this 2CV (note the duct tape on the roof), isn’t exactly air tight. I imagine only the smell of smoke remains.

I’m reminded of being on holiday on Iceland in 2012 when I encountered a little convoy of Deux Cheveaux trundling along on a 4wd only road through the interior. No pics sadly because taken by surprise.

Wow, that’s kinda unusual, I’m only used to see more than one of them when a 2CV tour, from one of those rent a 2CV places, passes by.

Depends on the condition, but they’re appreciating. A shitty one (yet road legal, with a valid inspection), like the Bob Marley one, will probably in the €1500-3000 range. A nice one from the 1980s will be somewhere in the €5000-10,000 range I bet. I’m not entirely sure. Older ones might be priced in a different way.
I should call the owner of that red one. The car isn’t listed on any major website (I checked), the owner might not realize how much it’s worth.

They are, as long as you’re not in a hurry. Comically wobbly yet grippy suspension. Flat aircooled 600 cc two cylinder engine with 29 hp in both of these newer 2CV6s. Car weighs only 600 kilos (1300 lbs) or so, but still. Can be fixed in the MacGuyver way at all times. Older ones have smaller engines with (a lot) less hp.

29hp ......the BIG engine, good stuff. but yeah, for a car that can be macGuyvered home. cant beat that. i heard that they were designed for farm use, something about being able to drive them across a field and not break a basket of eggs. might just be urban legend.

Not for farm use, but for use in agricultural regions in post-WW2 France (it started production in the 1940s). It can handle poor roads comfortably and should be able to indeed carry a basket of eggs over a field without breaking them. Don’t know if it was intentionally designed to do so though.
I’m at work and can’t watch the video, but I’ll embed it anyway.

I live in Groningen, the Netherlands. After posting the above I even saw a 2CV Charleston driving around.

I’m from the States and coincidentally, I rented a 2CV in the Netherlands for 2 days. A lot of fun. Beautiful place to drive too (away from the cities anyway)

Awesome! Love old 2CVs! Pity they have been steadily going up in price or I would love to have one someday :(
